There was no reason for scherzer to throw inside, he knew what could happen if it leaks too far in and he paid the price for it
Wanna know something great
Scherzer has pitched his way to a hall of fame career with 2 no hitters
And Tabata is a scrub who 99.999999999999 percent of baseball fans don’t know besides pirates and nats fans
The funny thing is you could not be paying attention and still know he leaned into the pitch
Fair move. It was inside. Throw strikes if you want outs. People who get salty about this probably are the same ones who were mad at Jason Donald for running out the grounder which ended Galarraga’s perfecto.
He would only have 6 more ABs in major league baseball.
this never fails to pisses me off.
Just pitch better, lol.
Actually Jose has history of pitches hitting him
Unwritten or not leaning into a pitch or not, it should be a rule that you must make some effort to get out of the way if you can. Barely getting hit on the elbow, he had plenty of time to move he wanted to get hit doesn’t matter that it was a perfect game he shouldn’t have done that or shouldn’t even be allowed to do that.
If you can't throw a perfect game without hitting the batter, then you can't throw a perfect game. Simple.
This is classless act, unsportsmanship. If Tabata can get away with intentionally breaking up a perfect game record by leaning into the pitch. We can all say bye bye to the future no-hitters and perfect games. Any hitter, in the future, can break up no-hitters by leaning into it.
That’s why Sherzer will go down as one of the best pitchers of his generation while Tabata will go as a punk-ass nobody remembered only for being a bitch with no balls ruining a real player’s perfect game
0:22 I think Armando Gallaraga would disagree with that statement.
San Francisco fan tabata leaned into it
Good for jose tabata, he did what he needed to do.
I meant that I can't believe that Tabata did not
Why tf did the ump not call this an illegal hit by pitch?
I’d like to see Tabata taking that hbp with a 105mph from Chapman
I don't believe that Tabata did that
It's on the ump. If the ball is outside the strike zone when it touches the batter, it shall be called a ball if he makes no attempt to avoid being touched.
What a dick
NECKLIPS the living legend!
What and awful player Tabata is
A batter's job is try to to get on base, sure. But he didn't make an attempt to get out of the way and he leaned into it! He has to play by the rules.
I would swung and miss for the perfect game
You could have an umpire blow the call at first base. #GalarragaPerfectGame #WorstWayToLosePerfectGame
Karma <3 The Gnats are so cocky they don't deserve a perfect game
i have changed my opinion he lowered elbow into pitch no walk just ball 3
still gets a no hitter
Tabata did what he had to do…. the umpire should've called it a ball lmao
it's one thing to get hit and not get out of the way, but to blatantly move your elbow to get hit is a douche move. Especially, like the announcer said, when you are down 6-0 with 1 out to go, what does that prove other than you are a douchebag?
Not the worst way to lose a perfect game. Having the umpire make an absolutely stupid call on a play at first still takes the cake.
Also I want to say for the record: the Nats TV announcing team is beyond awful. The radio team is miles better
Did he got the no hitter?
"That's the worst way to lose a perfect game."
Ummm…did the announcer not see the Galarraga perfect game stolen by the first base ump?
That was almost a strike too
Cheap leaning in to the pitch
Amazing how Nationals fans are still butthurt over this. If Max wanted his perfect game he should've thrown a better pitch. What is Tabata supposed to do swing and miss and let his team get a perfect game thrown on them out of the kindness of his heart? Bunch of fucking pussies in Washington
I'm a scherzer fan, I'm also more objective than most people. Should have made a better pitch max…
