it'd be interesting if the Old World Alatreon is an adolescent (along with 80% of the other Elders we fight in the Old World, I'm looking at you Fatalis!) and we fight a more battle hardened adult Alatreon in the New World, from the higher level of elemental control we see (including Purple Mode!), to the tattered wings signifying that it's been around the block a few times and just the fact that a Black Dragon of all things would come to the New World; where adult Elder Dragons come to die, if a several mile long adult Dalamadur is willing to make such an arduous journey, an Alatreon would have no trouble getting to the New World, though I imagine we'll get shown Alatreon after dealing with that variant of Barioth, like what happened with Stygian Zinogre
Hear me out on this boys i believe were gonna see another nerg thats gonna stand up to these black dragons like nerg is a elder that hunts and gets stronger off of other elders a true apex predator and ussually always wins and when everytime a monster threatens the new world a wild thuggin nergi shows up like cmon if a random ruiner can square up with a continent destroying shara im pretty sure the right nergi will pop up if any home wrecking black dragon comes to the new world

i still think that there's no way they made his scale turn black slowly through the fight for no reason, he must turn into a black dragon by the end of the game, there's 0 chance they tease us like that for no reason.
Imagine if we go to safijiva last zone while fighting alatreon and we see his dead body there

About the true adult safi thingy. I'm pretty sure a Arch-Tempered version is bound to happen (And shara hopefully, as well es velkana), and we've seen them change the color of an Arch-Tempered more then just "more shimmer" with out platin looking Kulve. Sooo I think it could very well happen that AT Safi is a lot darker then regular Safi.
Purple mode doesn’t sound scary at all. It should be called Barney mode because it sends chills down my spine.
When Alatreon does arrive can we make "PURPLE MODE" a thing?
Let not forget xeno ascended to safi by shedding his skin meaning xeno do evolve like goremagala meaning there is a possibility to have a mid form in the between, thx to who ever mention that theoy, it was a small lore channel i forgot it name sorry, having multiple xenos would be awesome.

Anyone notice how Amatsu is the exact opposite of Alatreon? Black and menacing vs white and majestic. Also, Amatsu uses the only 2 elements Alatreon doesn’t have access to: water and wind
When he goes into this super mode, he starts crackling with dragon energy, then explodes with dragon, fire, and thunder before quenching all of it with ice (I'm going by piecing together the two trailers). Also, after using this move, his scales turn blue, likely bringing him back to his usual color swaps. It looks a lot like a super move since he didn't really have one before.

My guess is that Arch-Tempered Safi is black, and has absorbed Alatreon's energy. Like how AT Kulve is white and has a new coat.
Orange: Grounded Unstability (Fire and Dragon)
Blue: (Mostly) Aerial Unstability (Ice and Thunder)
Purple: TRUE Unstability (Every previous Element)
That purple isnt really purple, its the lighting of the arena. That will be a COTTON MODE for sure!
Idea: The Red Dragon was the protector of the New World that could have fought against Alatreon and others that seek the destruction of life. And since the protector is gone, its death could have drawn out Alatreon
So would be fun if there was a bigger mama like red dragon come in at the end of the fight to destroy him at the end of the hunt in a epic cutscene

When the player defeated Xeno in the actual story mission, there is an earthquake and the Xeno falls down a cliff. It might have survived that and grew up into Safi.

Josh and cotton. Heres an interesting thought. What if the black dragon fight doesnt take place in the Safi arena. If you look at the world map there is a volcano south west of seliana. Wouldnt that be more of an appropriate place to fight a black dragon.
